It's worth going through for the story, but you may want to use a walkthrough. The redistribution permissions listed in these hints refer to the original downloadable UHS file, and not to the on. Hell, he never checked up on the Ages he had written, and the antagonist is understandably pissed at Atrus for it. This file is a copyrighted work and posted to the UHS web site with permission. The story is kind of sticking it to Atrus in a way the events that set the game in motion transpired because Atrus was too busy off creating Ages and stuff, and he didn't watch his sons closer. I consider it a limitation inherent to the games that some things just won't be immediately obvious for everyone - if you've played any of the point-and-click adventure games, you know that "Oh, you mean you can actually there?" moment.Īs far as the story, maybe it's because I haven't had the chance to replay Riven (*sniffle*), but I liked Exile's story. I went through the majority of the game without a walkthough however, I needed a couple hints to get through in some Ages. I bought the Myst/Riven/Exile DVD anniversary pack, but my Riven disc is busticated. Do either of them measure up to Riven?Īrrrgh. Why is it that every time I get really interested in a game or movie series because of specific elements, it seems like the very next installment removes the elements I like and replaces them with their opposites?ĭoes anybody know if Myst IV and Myst V are any good? I know they're out and all. All I want is to be reunited with my wife."Ītrus (Exile): "I've created many Ages! Creating Ages is awesome! Even before ever found me I'd created tons of Ages! For practice, even! And that Age decay thing isn't a problem at all! D'ni society is rebuilding, it's really cool! Whee!" Also, D'ni society has long since collapsed. The ability to create an Age without decay is lost, and it'd be totally irresponsible of me to create a civilization doomed to lose its home. But I refuse to spend time on that marble grid.Įxile so far is less cool, for reasons I can explain as follows:Ītrus (Riven): "Unlike my father, I've never actually created an Age. ![]() ![]() Riven was really cool! I wish the puzzles were easier, because I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more if I hadn't been using a walkthrough. So I just finished Riven and just started Exile.
